Dantri/Dtinews readers visit and present gifts flood-hit students in Nghe An Province on December 7.
On December 7, supporters visited Yen Hoa Secondary School with gifts and aid. Bao Giang, representing the charity group, said they were moved by a report describing the heavy damage at the school. The gifts are meant to help the pupils stay warm this winter and continue their education.
Nguyen Duc Truyen, chairman of Yen Hoa Commune, noted the community suffered severe losses in the recent floods. He said these donations relieve part of the burden on many families.
Lo Lam U Han, a pupil in class 6A, spoke on behalf of his classmates and expressed gratitude: “We are very happy to receive new jackets and notebooks. After the flood, many of us lost all our books. We thank the organisers for their help.”

The floodwaters rose over a metre, sweeping through the entire school grounds. Mud and debris destroyed nearly all facilities. About 1,400 books and educational materials were destroyed, along with desks, teaching equipment, boarding supplies, uniforms and blankets. Most students are from ethnic minority backgrounds and come from poor households, so families could not afford to replace lost supplies.

Yen Hoa Secondary School is deeply submerged in a recent flood.
Previously, on October 22, the oil services company PETROSETCO visited the school and donated 100 sets of desks and chairs and 10 sets of solar lamps to teachers and pupils at Yen Hoa. The total value of that donation was VND 160 million (approx. USD 6,700).
