The programme was launched on May 16 by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
According to local authorities, Ca Mau still has more than 3,000 poor households, over 7,000 near-poor households and many families living in difficult conditions despite progress in poverty reduction in recent years.

Nguyen Van Khoi, vice chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Ca Mau, called on businesses, organisations and donors to support the campaign under the spirit of “leaving no one behind”.
He said the programme aimed not only to help disadvantaged families overcome immediate hardship but also to create conditions for sustainable poverty reduction.
At the launch ceremony, government agencies, businesses and donors pledged more than VND 14 billion (USD 532,000) to support construction of the 1,000 houses.
The event was attended by senior provincial leaders, including Nguyen Ho Hai, secretary of the Ca Mau Party Committee, and Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh, deputy minister of Education and Training.
