Representatives of Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment received the emergency relief from the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) for people affected by heavy rains and flooding in Danang.

The shipment, which arrived at Danang Airport on November 11 and 12, includes 3,648 family kits, nearly 2,000 kitchen sets, and 3,000 personal hygiene kits valued at more than USD 264,000.

Danang’s Fatherland Front Committee will distribute the relief goods to residents in areas hit by the late-October and early-November floods.

The prolonged downpours caused severe damage across the city, leaving 12 dead, 4 missing, and 47 injured, with material losses exceeding VND 837 billion (about USD 32 million).

Widespread flooding and landslides submerged dozens of wards and communes, cutting off transport links. Heavily affected areas included Nam Phuoc Commune, Dien Ban and An Thang wards, and parts of Hoi An.

In October, the AHA Centre also provided relief supplies to residents in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang, which was struck by storms and floods.

According to the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention, as of November 10, embassies and international organisations had provided or pledged about USD 10.5 million in aid for Vietnamese localities affected by some recent typhoons and subsequent floods.

Alongside the AHA Centre, five countries and international organisations are delivering emergency assistance to central provinces after Typhoon Fengshen, including the Russian Federation, Samaritan’s Purse, ActionAid Vietnam, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and ISET-International.
