An overview of Cha Nga Village
This is the only road with access to Cha Nga. During heavy rains, the path becomes muddy, making it impassable for vehicles. Landslides frequently occur in the rainy season, posing significant risks.
The village has 94 households and over 450 residents belonging to the Thai ethnic minority. Life here is extremely difficult, with most families relying on slash-and-burn farming and fishing in the Nam Non River. The village remains without electricity, a phone signal, or a marketplace.
Luong Van Nhun, the village chief, shared: "Life here is very tough. Our level of education is low, and farming is unstable due to the challenging terrain and the persistent drought throughout the year."

Cha Nga villagers wish to receive support to renovate and rebuild a proper kindergarten and primary school so their children could have a decent education.
When asked about the community's greatest need, he expressed the villagers' deepest wish to renovate and rebuild a proper kindergarten and primary school so their children could have a decent education.
According to headteacher Lo Thi Ha, Cha Nga Village currently has one kindergarten class with 25 children and a small primary school. Although the children are eager to learn, the lack of proper facilities makes studying in safe and hygienic conditions difficult.

Cha Nga Kindergarten and Primary School
"Our cramped classroom prevents us from delivering the quality of education and care required by the kindergarten curriculum," she explained. "We sincerely hope that Dantri newspaper and generous donors will support us in building a proper classroom and providing better meals for the children at school."

Teacher Lo Thi Huong added, "During the rainy season, landslides from the mountains block the only road to the village, cutting us off from the outside world. There are months when I can't return home. Working here makes me feel deeply for the children."
Another major challenge is the language barrier. "Most of the children do not speak Vietnamese, which makes teaching even more difficult," she said.

Given these urgent needs, the school is seeking support to construct a fully equipped classroom and a kitchen at Cha Nga Kindergarten, covering an estimated area of 64 square metres. The project's total cost is expected to be nearly VND500 million, and it aims to improve learning conditions and daily activities for the students.
Luong Van Bay, Chairman of the My Ly Commune People's Committee, noted that My Ly is a border commune adjacent to Laos.
The commune consists of 12 villages with a total population of 5,715, of which 99 percent belong to ethnic minority groups, including the Kho Mu, Mong, Thai, and Kinh peoples. As of late 2024, 568 households, 45.12 percent of the population, were classified as impoverished.
"As a remote border area with a rugged mountainous landscape, the commune faces significant challenges in socio-economic development," Bay said. "Infrastructure remains underdeveloped, and transportation is difficult. Four out of 12 villages lack electricity, and five remain without telecommunications coverage, severely limiting trade and communication."
Bay, Chairman of the My Ly Commune People's Committee, hoped that Dantri newspaper would connect with benefactors to support the construction of new classrooms for Cha Nga Kindergarten.
