Dantri and Bao Lam District People's Committee hold a groundbreaking ceremony to construct a new school facility at Nam Puc, part of the Thach Lam Commune Kindergarten in Bao Lam District, Cao Bang Province on March 14
The VND 620 million project includes the construction of a classroom, a self-contained toilet, and a kitchen for boarding students. The funds were raised through contributions from Dantri readers via the programme aimed at rebuilding the lives of people affected by Typhoon Yagi in September 2024.
Nam Puc School Facility faces severe shortages in infrastructure and teaching equipment. Many structures within the school have deteriorated, posing risks to students and teachers.

Speaking at the ceremony, journalist Nguyen Xuan Toan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Dantri, said, "Thanks to our readers' contributions, these children will have better learning conditions. We sincerely appreciate the support of Dantri readers, who helped provide the students a new place to study and grow."
"The road to this school passes through towering mountains, with rugged and slippery paths barely wide enough for a motorbike. Half of the kindergarten students, aged between three and five, must walk three to four kilometres home. He added that there is no mobile signal or electricity for lighting, and both teachers and students at Nam Puc face extremely challenging conditions," he added.

Given these difficulties, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Dantri emphasised the necessity of building the classroom, toilet, and kitchen to support the students at Nam Puc.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Nong Van Luong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bao Lam District, highlighted that Bao Lam is one of the most underprivileged districts in Cao Bang. It is about 160 kilometres from the provincial centre and has extremely challenging transportation conditions.

"The percentage of impoverished and near-impoverished households remains high, and many school facilities are still lacking. We hope that Dantri will continue to support us by helping to build essential infrastructure such as bridges and roads to improve the lives of residents," Luong expressed.
On the day of the ceremony, Dantri representatives, on behalf of generous readers, donated 200 boxes of vitamins and 50 blankets to the children of Nam Puc Kindergarten.

Doctor Do Thi Hong Khanh, representing the 19-8 Hospital under the Ministry of Public Security, expressed deep sympathy upon witnessing the children's harsh learning and living conditions.
"In the future, we'll work more closely with Dantri in charitable activities, including health consultations and free medicine distribution, to improve the quality of life for local people," Doctor Khanh affirmed.
Hoang Thuy Linh, a young teacher with two years of experience at Nam Puc School Facility, has faced many challenges. Due to the lack of electricity and mobile signal, she must rent accommodation 21 kilometres from the school.

She shared, "The classroom was just a makeshift wooden shelter without electricity. In winter, it was freezing, and during the rainy season, half the room would get soaked. Most of the students here are of Mong ethnicity, with many living three to four kilometres away. More than half of them have to walk home independently because their parents can't pick them up. The temporary classroom had 54 students but only one learning space."
Hoang Thuy Linh believes constructing the new, solid school facility will create a safer and warmer learning environment for teachers and students. The improved conditions will help enhance the quality of education and make it easier for children to absorb knowledge.

Vuong Thi Ve, Deputy Principal of Nam Puc Kindergarten, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Dantri and its generous readers for helping improve teachers' working conditions and providing students with better opportunities to succeed in their education.
