
Representatives from Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper and An Giang Province hand over new homes to seven families on September 21.
At the ceremony, Nguyen Huu Thinh, deputy head of the provincial propaganda and mass mobilisation commission, said the houses represented not only material gifts but also the compassion of Dtinews and its readers nationwide.

Dtinews' representative Huynh Hai said the new homes were the result of contributions from thousands of readers, with each donation helping to realise the dream of safe shelter for low-income families.

Nguyen Thi Thu Van, 53, from Binh Thanh Dong Commune, said that receiving her new 60-square-metre house, built with donations from readers of over VND 85 million (approximately USD 3,350), was “a lifelong dream come true.”

Six other households in Binh Thanh Dong and Phu Tan districts also received support from readers and local businesses to replace unsafe wooden homes.
As part of the national campaign to eliminate substandard housing, Dtinews has set a goal of building 200 homes for poor and near-poor families by 2025. So far, 219 homes have been started, with 171 completed.
