Vietnamese police investigating the death of a reporter who was doused with chemicals and set ablaze as he slept are holding his wife on a murder charge, reports said Wednesday.
Hoang Hung, 51, an investigative journalist with Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, was attacked at the family home near southern Ho Chi Minh City on the night of January 19. He died over a week later in hospital.
His wife, Tran Thuy Lieu, turned herself in to police on Sunday and is being held for further investigation on a murder charge, Thanh Nien daily newspaper said.
Lieu allegedly told police she killed her husband following disagreements over money and family issues, Tien Phong newspaper said.
