Deputy chairman of the commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Cuong said that two of the victims, all aged 11, died on the way to hospital while the others were sent to the provincial General Hospital for treatment. They are said to all be in a serious condition.
A Government's online portal correspondent reported that doctors who first received and treated the victims at the district General Hospital said that other warheads were found in the children's pockets.
Local authorities have made donations to support the victims' families and has been investigating the case. Rainfall after the incident has hindered the investigation process.
