According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, most of the north, except Dien Bien, Lai Chau and Son La, will see temperatures of 35-37 degrees Celsius on September 1, with some areas exceeding 37 degrees, before the heat eases on September 2.
In central Vietnam, moderate to heavy rain is forecast from Quang Tri to Danang through August 31, with 15-35 mm expected and over 70 mm in some areas. The Central Highlands could see 10-25 mm, locally exceeding 60 mm.
Heavy rain in central Vietnam is expected to end from September 1. Temperatures from Thanh Hoa to Danang and in eastern Quang Ngai are forecast to reach 35-37 degrees on September 2, with some areas above 37 degrees.
Southern Vietnam will see scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and at night, with locally heavy rain, while isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected during the day.
Hanoi will be sunny through September 2, with hot weather in some areas and isolated showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night.
Meanwhile, a tropical depression south of China's Hainan Island is forecast to strengthen into a storm overnight or on September 1, becoming the fifth storm to enter the East Sea this year.
