The number of soldiers' remains recovered from Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City has risen to 553 after authorities discovered 15 additional sets of remains during ongoing search operations.
The Ho Chi Minh City High Command said on August 31 that recovery teams had successfully exhumed a total of 553 sets of remains at the park site.

During the latest phase of the operation, personnel processed nearly 500 cubic metres of soil while continuing to expand the search area in Zone B of the park.
To maintain the pace of the excavation effort, the Ho Chi Minh City High Command deployed additional machinery, including two excavators, a bulldozer, dump trucks and two cargo trucks to support earth-moving and transport operations.
The recovery mission forms part of a broader effort to locate and repatriate the remains of soldiers who died during the war and whose burial locations have remained unknown for decades.

The search and recovery operation at Le Thi Rieng Park was launched on July 6 following the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra at a workshop verifying information about a mass grave of martyrs in the area.
Earlier, based on witness accounts and historical records, the Ho Chi Minh City Command estimated that hundreds of martyrs killed during the 1968 Tet Offensive and Uprising may have been buried in Do Thanh - Chi Hoa cemetery, now Le Thi Rieng Park.
