Thousands of candles were lit at the Road 9 National War Cemetery in the central province of Quang Tri to commemorate the 68th War Invalids and Martyrs Day today.

Thousands of candles were lit at the Road 9 National War Cemetery in the central province of Quang Tri to commemorate the 68th War Invalids and Martyrs Day today.

Road 9 National War Cemetery is the resting place of over 10,000 soldiers and civilian volunteers who fought in the American War. Hundreds of people attended the ceremony held by local authorities, Ho Chi Minh Youth Union and Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

Nguyen Dac Vinh, first secretary of HCM Youth Union, said, "Standing here at this sacred location, we understand and appreciate more our history and the sacrifice previous generations made in exchange for peace and freedom today."
