The Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Centre forecast cloudy conditions with scattered showers and thunderstorms across HCM City and the southern region on September 26.
Temperatures are expected to range from lows of 23-25 degrees Celsius to highs of 30-32 degrees.
On September 25, scattered thunderstorms hit central, northern and northeastern parts of HCM City, bringing rainfall of 5-25 mm and more than 30 mm in some areas.
The centre said the southern region remained under the influence of the southern edge of an intertropical convergence zone, combined with weak to moderate southwesterly winds.
Widespread thunderstorms are expected to continue, mainly in the afternoon and evening, although the area affected by heavy rain is forecast to gradually narrow towards the end of the weekend.
Water levels in rivers and canals across the southern region are also rising during the current high-tide period.
Heavy rain combined with high tides could cause flooding in low-lying areas, along rivers and canals and in urban areas, the centre warned.
Residents were advised to avoid deeply flooded areas and remain alert to whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong gusts during thunderstorms.
