Northern Vietnam is expected to come under the influence of two successive cold air spells over the coming week, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
The first weak cold air mass is forecast to affect the region from the night of September 30. Due to its relatively weak intensity and easterly trajectory, it is expected to bring scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms across the northern region.
Daytime temperatures on October 1-2 are forecast to ease to around 30-32 degrees Celsius, ending a period of prolonged hot weather.

A stronger reinforcement of cold air is expected to arrive around the night of October 4-5.
Forecasters said the second cold air spell could trigger heavy rainfall across many parts of northern Vietnam, as well as the north-central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh.
From the night of October 5 into October 6, the rain band is expected to expand southwards, affecting areas from Quang Tri to Danang and the eastern part of Quang Ngai Province.
Meteorological authorities are continuing to monitor the development of the weather system and will provide updated forecasts as conditions evolve.
