Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air and Bamboo Airways will take part under a plan approved by the prime minister, with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam instructing them to complete all preparations to ensure safe and punctual operations.

Vietnam Airlines will operate a Boeing 787 Dreamliner on a round-trip flight between Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport and Long Thanh on the morning of December 19. The flight will carry senior Party and State leaders and will not be run as a commercial service.

VietJet Air and Bamboo Airways will each deploy Airbus A320 or A321 aircraft on round-trip flights between Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport and Long Thanh, carrying only flight crews and technical staff for operational assessments.

The aviation authority has instructed the airlines to review fuel arrangements for the round trips, coordinate with fuel suppliers where necessary and ensure adequate aircraft maintenance.

They have also been told to work closely with Long Thanh International Airport and ground handlers to coordinate services and ensure aviation security.

Earlier, on December 15, a wide-body Boeing 787 operated by Vietnam Airlines landed safely at Long Thanh International Airport during a test flight.
