According to the ministry, the 53-year-old man who resides in Hanoi came back from Russia on a repatriation flight which landed at the Can Tho International Airport on July 9. He was immediately sent to a centralised quarantine area in Ca Mau Province upon arrival in accordance with current regulations.


His samples were taken for viral testing on July 12 and the results came positive for SARS-CoV-2. The patient is being treated at the Ca Mau Provincial General Hospital.

According to the National Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control, as of July 14, Vietnam reports 373 Covid-19 infection cases including 232 from abroad who were quarantined immediately after arrival. 352 patients or 94.4 percent of all cases have recovered from the disease, and there have been no deaths.

At present, 13.357 people that had close contact with the patients or came from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, centralised quarantine areas or at home. The country has gone 89 consecutive days without any community spread of the virus, the committee said.
