According to the ministry's report, 2,296 of the newly-confirmed patients are locally-transmitted cases 2,095 of whom were detected in quarantine sites or areas under lockdown in some localities including 1,797 in Ho Chi Minh City, 186 in Binh Duong, 130 in Long An, 31 in Dong Thap, 27 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, 26 in Phu Yen, 23 in Vinh Long, 12 in Dong Nai, 11 in Ben Tre, eight in Hanoi, eight in Hung Yen, five in Tay Ninh, five in Can Tho, four in An Giang, four in Danang, three in Tra Vinh, three in Kien Giang, two in Quang Ngai, two in Binh Thuan, two in Bac Ninh, two in Bac Giang, and one each in Nam Dinh, Nghe An, Lao Cai, Binh Phuoc, and Thanh Hoa.


Ho Chi Minh City continued to report the highest number of new infections in the country. On Monday, the city also recorded 1,764 new patients, the majority of which are individuals who came into contact with confirmed Covid-19 patients or who were detected in either isolation and locked down areas. The city has imposed social distancing measures in 15 days starting from July 9 in an effort to prevent the virus spread.

As of Tuesday evening, 30,985 locally-transmitted cases have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country on April 27, including 16,573 in the virus hotspot of Ho Chi Minh City. The outbreak has so far spread to 58 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 34,500 including 32,555 locally-transmitted cases.

As of 6 pm on July 13, a total of 9,553 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far there have been 130 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

By the end of July 12, Vietnam has conducted over 4.06 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine. More than 280,000 people have received two doses of the vaccine.
