Vietnam confirms 38th Covid-19 death

Vietnam has recorded its 38th Covid-19 fatality, a 64-year-old woman who suffered from liver cancer.

Vietnam has recorded its 38th Covid-19 fatality, a 64-year-old woman who suffered from liver cancer.

According to the Ministry of Health, the patient was diagnosed with hepatitis B ten years ago and liver cancer four months ago.

The patient was taken to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi in critical condition with sepsis syndrome and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. She then was provided with intensive treatment, using a ventilator and antibiotics.

A national consultation was held on her condition on May 18, but due to the seriousness of her diseases, she died on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Vietnam reported the 37th Covid-19 fatality, a 34-year-old man in the northern province of Bac Ninh. He was taken to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases on April 24 due to Covid-19 infection and the effects of a traffic accident. He was also diagnosed with cephalomeningitis.
