Half of the new cases were recorded in quarantine and lockdown areas, the MoH said.
Meanwhile, an imported case was registered in An Giang, southern Vietnam. The resident was placed in quarantine upon his arrival, and he tested positive during his stay in a local quarantine facility.
The SARS-CoV-2 virus resurged in Vietnam in late April and has spread to 44 cities and provinces across the country.
As many as 11,830 COVID-19 patients have been confirmed, including 3,175 recoveries and 39 deaths.
Overall Vietnam has logged 15,152 cases since January 2020, including 5,949 recoveries and 74 deaths.
