Ha Thuy Linh, director of Ha Linh Oolong Tea Company

Ha Thuy Linh, director of Ha Linh Oolong Tea Company, one of the largest Oolong tea exporters in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, died September 22.

She went to China on September 19 and was found unconscious with many bruises and her belongings missing. Doctors were unable to save her.

Legal counselor of Ha Linh, Truong Quang Quy, said Linh woke up in hospital and told doctors that she had been poisoned before being beaten.

Quy sad that Linh's relatives, who went to China to attend the autopsy, received threatening messages.

Linh was married to Lin Chin Choang, a Taiwanese man, and set up Haiyih Co to produce oolong tea. They divorced and Choang returned to Taiwan. In 2008, Linh established her own company, Ha Linh. There were allegedly problems in the divorce settlement, Quy said.

The Foreign Ministry asked Chinese authorities to investigate Linh's death, and Lam Dong provincial authorities are working with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangzhou.
