According to the ministry's report, the 27-year-old Vietnamese man returned from Japan on April 20. He was sent to a quarantine area in Thai Binh Province and tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 on April 23.
He his now being treated at the Thai Binh Provincial General Hospital.
The Indian man, 49, landed in Hanoi's Noi Bai Airport on April 18. He was sent to a quarantine area in Yen Bai Province upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in his third testing on April 23.
The patient is now being treated at the Hanoi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 2,832, including 1,262 imported patients.
As of 6 pm on April 23, a total of 2,490 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.
At present, over 39,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
