The scene of the incident
According to a report from local authorities, a loud explosion was heard at the house of Hoang Van Quang, 61, in Quy Hop District at 5.30 pm on August 27.
"Some neighbours arrived to see the 100-square-metre house collapse with the metal roofs blown off," the report said. "Quang was found dead in the debris, and the body of his 53-year-old wife Hoang Thi Huong was found some metres away."
Quy Hop Police said that the couple used one room inside the house to cook with a gas cylinder, which was suspected to have caused the explosion. They have three children who have moved to live in other localities.
The explosion also caused damage to some surrounding houses.
Police are investigating the cause of the incident.
