The An Phuc Dong Hai project will cover 37.5 hectares in Dinh Thanh Commune and have a designed capacity of 50 MW, equivalent to about 62.5 MWp of installed solar capacity.
The plant will use photovoltaic panels and distributed inverters, alongside a battery energy storage system with capacity equivalent to about 10 per cent of the plant's installed capacity and two hours of storage.
The project will also include a 22/110 kV substation and a four-kilometre, 110 kV transmission line connecting it to the An Phuc Dong Hai wind power plant.
Provincial authorities said the project was scheduled to begin operations in March 2028. Once operational, it is expected to supply clean electricity to the national grid and support power demand from aquaculture and seafood production in the province.
Ca Mau has strong potential for solar power, with an average of 2,200-2,700 sunshine hours a year, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.
The province currently has 3,303 rooftop solar systems with a combined capacity of 342.997 MWp, including 455 self-generation and self-consumption systems.
Under its 2026-2030 energy-saving and rooftop solar development plan, Ca Mau aims to have solar systems installed at 10 per cent of households and 10 per cent of public agencies by 2030.
