According to a report by Quang Ngai Police Department, the incident occurred at 5.30 am in Nghia Dong Commune when Le Dinh Thuyet, 57, stabbed four family members of his cousin Nguyen Van Tai.
"Tai, 50, and his 42-year-old wife Pham Thi Phuong died, while their two daughters, aged six and four, are being treated at hospital with serious injuries," the report said.
Some neighbours said that they heard screams for help from Tai's house at 5.30 am and ran to find Thuyet stabbing Tai with a knife. Thuyet stopped and fled after hearing people coming.
"As the gate was locked, we climbed the wall to the house and found Tai lying unconscious in the yard and his wife dead in a bathroom," a witness said. "Their two daughters had also suffered serious injuries. We managed to break the gate and rushed Tai and the two children to hospital, but Tai died shortly after due to serious injuries."
Police then called and arrested Thuyet while hiding in the garden. Thuyet told the police that he was living in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province and came to Quang Ngai on Tuesday afternoon to kill Tai due to land disputes. He climbed into Tai's house at 9 pm the same day and stayed in the garden until the next morning.

Quang Ngai Police are further investigating the case.
