A railway section in Danang is buried by landslides on October 15
A representative from the Vietnam Railway Corporation said on Saturday morning that they were trying to fix the damaged rail sections in Danang and Thua Thien Hue so that their services could be resumed as soon as possible.
"Heavy rains starting from the evening of October 14 have caused landslides in sections of the line at Thua Thien Hue," the representative said. "Many sections have been buried some 30 centimetres under the rock and soil. Some other sections on the Hai Van Pass were damaged by erosion and need work."

Workers repair the railway in Danang
The line from Danang City to Hue City has been blocked for repair.
Storm Sonca has caused the worst flooding to hit Danang in a decade, with many neighbouring central and central highlands localities inundated on Friday night.
After weakening from a tropical storm to a low tropical pressure system, Sonca dumped up to 800mm of rain in many areas.
Danang City recorded nearly 600mm of rain on Friday night, leaving most of the city under water. In some areas, flood waters one metre deep isolated communities.
