Of the total figure, road accidents accounted for 3,775 cases with 3,165 fatalities and 1,918 injuries. The runners-up were the railway sector with 44 cases, including 37 deaths and nine injuries. The waterway sector saw 38 accidents, including 33 deaths and four injuries.

From May 15 to June 14, the country reported 1,135 traffic accidents, leaving 489 dead and 871 injuries. The figures represent an on-year decrease of 18.87%; 22.5% and 21.18% respectively.

The main reason for the significant reduction was attributable to the positive impacts of the Law on Alcohol Harm Prevention and Control that took effect on January 1, 2020 along with Government Decree 100 on increased fines for drink driving.

Additionally, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly the social distancing period, people went out for driving less than usual.
