According to Tra Vinh authorities, the project would cost nearly VND9.2 trillion (USD372 million) of which VND6.71 trillion (USD272) will be covered by a loan from ADB and the rest will be paid by the province’s budget.
With an expected length of 60.70 kilometres, the two-lane road will connect Tra Vinh with Ben Tre and Soc Trang Provinces. The project is scheduled to be built between 2025-2029 and put into use in 2030.
Tra Vinh’s authorities and ADB discussed the terms and conditions of the project as well as its construction plan. Tra Vinh will conduct a feasibility study for the project between March-October, 2024.
The ADB said that they would closely co-operate with the province to carry out the procedures for the project as well as support in personnel and consultation.
Chairman of the Tra Vinh People’s Committee Le Van Han underlined the corridor's crucial role in fostering socio-economic development in Tra Vinh and the entire delta region.
