Chairman of the National Committee for Traffic Safety Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked agencies to investigate a serious traffic accident which killed three people and injured 26 others yesterday afternoon in the northern province of Hoa Binh.
According to the Traffic Safety Board of Hoa Binh Province, the accident was caused by a passenger coach and a truck occurred at 4.30pm at Km 126+900 on National Road 6 in Mai Chau District. The two vehicles collided at a bend.
Three passengers on the coach died on site while 26 others were left seriously injured.
The truck, which was carrying asphalt, tipped on its side and caused large fire.
Nguyen Van Hai, deputy head of Hoa Binh Traffic Police Department told DTiNews that two of the three fatalities were killed by the fire.
"The injured have been sent to local hospitals and serious cases brought to hospitals in Hanoi".
A police officer said that it appeared the truck driver tried to turn the corner too fast and collided with the coach.
