More than 2,000 counterfeit bags, shoes and earphones carrying luxury brand labels are seized at Huu Nghi International Border Gate.

According to the General Department of Customs, the haul was discovered on November 22 during checks on a transit shipment from China to Cambodia at the Huu Nghi International Border Gate in Lang Son Province. The consignment was declared to contain 39 items, but inspections revealed undeclared goods, including four categories suspected of violating intellectual property rules.

They included 1,800 pairs of children’s sandals labelled Crocs, 175 handbags bearing Louis Vuitton branding, 65 Chanel-labelled handbags and 125 Hermes-branded bags, all new. Customs is verifying the violations for further action under the law.

Earlier, customs officers intercepted another transit shipment from China to Cambodia at the same border gate, hiding more than 2,000 counterfeit items such as shoes, backpacks and clothing labelled Crocs, Nike and Balmain, all marked “Made in Vietnam”, along with 11,500 fake Oppo earphones.

The shipment had been declared as 15 items, but checks found only one matched the declaration. Of the remaining 14 items, eight had discrepancies in quantity and six contained no goods at all. Officers also found 21 undeclared categories, including five suspected of intellectual property violations.

The seized goods included 1,100 pairs of foam sandals counterfeiting the Crocs brand, 50 sets of fake Balmain clothing, 50 pairs of sports shoes and 900 fabric backpacks imitating Nike. Another 11,500 products were fake Oppo earphones.

Customs has imposed administrative fines totalling VND 250.8 million (USD 10,400) for false declarations, transiting goods falsely labelled as made in Viet Nam and trademark counterfeiting. Five counterfeit product lines will be destroyed.
