The hospital was located on a military unit in Cu Chi District.

Municipal Department of Health Deputy Director Tang Chi Thuong told local media on Sunday that the hospital's first 100 beds were ready to serve novel coronavirus patients from February 10 and the hospital could operate with full capacity of 300 beds and all equipment from next week.


This is one of the two VND255 billion (USD10.9 million) field hospitals that are being built in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for a potential sudden surge in the number of Coronavirus infections in the area.

The second with 200 beds one is being constructed in Nha Be District, about 23km to the south of the city centre.

These hospitals are mainly operated by the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases with doctors and other medical staff sent from such major city hospitals including 115 People’s Hospital, Gia Dinh People’s Hospital, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, and Truong Vuong Hospital.

Vietnam has confirmed the 14th novel coronavirus infection case by February 9 according to the Ministry of Health.

By 11:00 on February 9, a total of 759 cases had samples tested in Vietnam and 14 of them positive for nCoV, including nine in Vinh Phuc province, three in Ho Chi Minh City, one in Khanh Hoa and one in Thanh Hoa provinces.
