Sixty-one arrested in drug ring linked to Vung Tau bar

Police in Ho Chi Minh City have arrested 61 people after dismantling a drug trafficking and illegal drug use ring linked to a bar in Vung Tau Ward.

The operation was launched after investigators discovered signs of illegal activity at Revo Bar, including operating beyond permitted hours and suspected drug-related offences.

In a raid carried out early on April 12, officers from the city’s drug crime investigation division and other police units inspected the bar and found 12 people testing positive for drugs and 30 others using illegal substances.

Police also caught a bar employee allegedly selling drugs inside the venue.

Further investigations led authorities to uncover two drug supply networks accused of providing narcotics and cannabis to customers at Revo Bar and other entertainment venues in central Vung Tau.

Investigators identified several alleged ringleaders involved in trafficking, storing and organising illegal drug use operations.

Police said the networks distributed drugs not only to bar patrons but also to smaller retail groups and gatherings at bars and cafés in the area.

From one ketamine-positive suspect, investigators expanded the case and dismantled additional synthetic drug trafficking and illegal drug-use networks.

So far, 50 suspects have been prosecuted on charges including drug trafficking, possession and organising illegal drug use, while 11 others were fined or sent to compulsory rehabilitation facilities for drug use offences.
