Memorial and burial services are held for the remains of 262 Vietnamese soldiers who died in Cambodia on December 18.


The Vietnamese soldiers and specialists were sent to Cambodia on international missions and died in the country.

The ceremony which was held at Ha Tien War Cemetery was attended by Vice Secretary of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee, Mai Van Huynh, chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Lam Minh Thanh, and his deputy Nguyen Thanh Nhan.

Speaking at the ceremony, vice chairman of the provincial people's committee, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, expressed deep gratitude to those who had sacrificed their lives in the fight against the brutal Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia.

According to the official, they are still trying to look for many other Vietnamese soldiers who died in Cambodia.

"We will co-operate with Cambodian authorities to speed up the search in the coming time," he said.

Since 2001, with co-operation from authorities of the two countries, over 2,000 sets of remains of Vietnamese soldiers and specialists who died in Cambodia and have been brought home and buried in Kien Giang Province.
