Tinh's family receives the donation

Nguyen Thi Tinh's husband has eye defects and weak health so finds it hard to work. Tinh has a history of seizures but she still goes to the market to sell vegetables daily without fail.

Tinh's daughter has leaking heart valves and has already gone through three operations. The trip and health checks cost them a substantial amount of money. In addition, she has to take medicines not covered by health insurance and they still have the debts to repay. Meanwhile, Tinh's son was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and the family struggled to find money for his treatment.

On May 31, representative of Dan Tri Newspaper and local authorities visited Tinh's family in Village 5, Nong Cong District, and gave them VND24,980,000.

Tinh said after the story was published, she got help from many people and was able to repay the debts. She also deposited part of the donation to pay for monthly health checks and treatment at hospital. Tinh said her daughter's health had improved greatly. The girl doesn't faint and vomit blood anymore.

Tinh said she was moved upon receiving the donation because she had never dreamt of having so much money.

"I want to thank everyone. I'll use the money to restore my children’s health," she said.
