Body temperature checking at the border gate
According to the provincial authorities, there are 800 people and hundreds of vehicles entering Vietnam via Lao Bao and La Lay border gates daily, mostly are Vietnamese expats in Laos. Since March 7, more measures have been applied including online medical declarations. However, the border activities are difficult to control and the gates only closed at 10 pm. They authorities have faced challenges in sending personnel to quarantine the travellers.
132 Vietnamese expats returned through Lao Bao Gate by noon on March 18. They were checked for body temperature immediately and quarantined for 14 days in Dong Ha City. Many people said they didn't know about the body temperature check and quarantine regulations at the border. Long lines of people and vehicles could be seen at the border.
Cargo trucks are directed to the registered locations and when they return to Vietnam, the drivers will be quarantined.
Hoang Nam, vice chairman of Quang Tri Province, said, they had quarantined 270 Vietnamese expats returned through Lao Bao and La Lay gates. More people are expected to come in the coming days so they are expanding the quarantine areas and prepare all equipment and resources for the work.
