The programme will be carried out at 67 of Coteccons' construction sites nationwide between January 4–16, 2023.
According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, in the first nine months of this year, the country had 51.60 million labourers including seven million workers in the construction sector.
Pham Anh Thang, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, said that construction workers had an average monthly salary of VND 7.60 million in the third quarter of 2022.
"This was a low income compared to their hard and long working hours," the official said. "They usually have to work between 8–12 hours a day and 6–7 days a week. They need more support to have a better living condition."
Under the programme launched by DanTri/DTiNews and Coteccons, 12,000 gifts worth VND 300,000 each will be given to workers at the 67 Coteccons' construction sites nationwide during the coming Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.

12,000 gifts worth VND 300,000 each will be given to workers at the 67 Coteccons' construction sites nationwide during the coming Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.
In addition to the Tet gifts, workers will also be given some free services including haircut, photograph, and transportation to their hometown during Tet Holiday.
As a leading construction company in the country, Coteccons has over 20,000 employees. The company has faced great difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The company's deputy general director, Pham Quan Luc, said that they decided to launch the programme to support workers after receiving support from 2,000 other staff members and 500 partners.
"We hope that the gifts will bring a happy Tet Festival to our workers this year," Luc said.
Speaking at the launching of the programme on December 12, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of DanTri/DTiNews Online Newspaper, Nguyen Xuan Toan, said that the newspaper will join with Coteccons to support their workers.
"We know that many construction companies are having to lay off their workers due to financial difficulties," Toan said. "We're very moved to see that Coteccons are trying their best to help the workers. We will join with the company and call for support from individuals and organisations to help the workers have a better Tet Holiday."
