State Audit of Vietnam (SAV) said that this year they would focus on assessing the effectiveness of the stimulus package and solutions to curb economic recession.

SAV announced their action plans for 2010 at a meeting held in Hanoi yesterday, March 18.
Accordingly, SAV will examine the management and disbursement of banking interest supporting funds for organisations and individuals; taxation management by the General Department of Taxation and General Department of Customs for 2 years of 2008-2009; issuance, management and spending of government bond in a period of 2006-2009 and Official Development Assistance (ODA) Projects.
State Audit Deputy General Director Le Minh Khai said that this year’s auditing plan must assess the efficiency of the implementation of the National Assembly’s resolutions and the Government’s plans on urgent measures to curb economic recession and ensure social security.
In addition, SAV also will examine the state budget, state owned and ODA projects, management and spending of state capital at state owned corporations, companies as well as financial and banking organisations.
As planned, SAV will audit the accounts of 32 cities and provinces, 14 ministries and agencies and 10 socio-political and occupational organisations who are using the state budget, in addition to 27 capital construction investment projects in areas such as infrastructure, construction of traffic, irrigation and electricity.
Regarding businesses and financial and banking organisations, the audit will examine 28 units, including the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), the Vietnam Garment & Textile Group (Vinatex) and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) in 2010.
Furthermore, SAV will examine 13 bodies of national defence, institutions and schools of security, as well as 12 provincial police departments and 12 provincial committees of the Party.
The Vietnam Bank for Social Policies will be audited on the implementation of student credit policies during the period of 2007-2009.
