The incident occurred at approximately 9 pm on May 26, when the man reportedly drove at high speed and plunged into the sinkhole near Hiep Luc Hamlet.
Local authorities mobilised 18 police officers early the next morning to join the rescue operation. By 9 pm on May 27, after nearly 10 hours of continuous pumping using high-capacity emergency equipment, water levels in the sinkhole had receded significantly.
Rescue efforts remain ongoing, with the involvement of multiple specialised units utilising a combination of modern machinery and manual tools.
The sinkhole, located on a section of National Highway 3B, has been present since late March. It measures approximately 10 metres in diameter and between 10 to 12 metres in depth.
Authorities have yet to locate the missing individual, and safety concerns remain for those living and travelling in the affected area.
