Representatives from Danang authorities, the Naval Region 3 Command, and the Consulate General of Japan attended the vessel's welcoming ceremony.
The ship, led by Captain Mizuno Tatsuhio, carries 230 officers and crew from the training ship Suzunami. During its stay in Danang, the ship will engage in various activities.

The ship's commander will lead the delegation in paying courtesy visits to the Danang People's Committee leaders and the Naval Region 3 Command. They will also conduct joint training exercises with the Naval Region 3 Command and participate in various maritime service activities.
The destroyer Suzunami is armed with a gun system, surface missile system, and torpedoes on both sides of the vessel. It also carries an SH-60K helicopter.
The visit aims to strengthen friendship and deepen ties between the two naval forces.
In February this year, two vessels of Japan's Maritime Self-Defence Force, including the Suzunami destroyer and the Shimakaze training ship, made a port call to Haiphong City.
