Tri's family receives donation
Tran Thi Tri is nearly bed-bound at home. After getting married, Tri had three children but her husband died in a traffic accident while their youngest daughter was only four months old. Her oldest daughter is now 10 years old and the youngest is 6 years old.In early 2018, Tri often had a backache and was told that she had a disc herniation and pelvic inflammation. Doctors said she needed a VND100m (USD4,000) operation but the family still owed VND80m after her husband's death.
Her children have to take care of Tri and themselves so Tri worried that their studies could be interrupted.
On October 20, representative of Dantri and leaders of Can Loc District and My Loc Commune visited Tri. She has just returned from Hanoi to borrow more money for treatment. Dantri representative transferred VND127,940,000 to her.
"Doctors said there was no cure and I'll have to live with it for the rest of my life. I still hope that there is a way for me to work and take care of my children since they are so small. I can't bear being a burden for them," she said.
Tri was moved and said she would use the money for treatment and for the children's tuition.
Bui Huy Cuong, vice chairman of Can Loc District People's Committee, also expressed gratitude to donors who had helped disadvantaged families in the district over the past years. "I want to sincerely thank everyone who has helped disadvantaged households in our area and across Vietnam," he said.
