Nguyen Manh Ha from VMG Company said, “If we wish to integrate into the global financial community, we should recognise the importance of intellectual property rights. This issue affects the whole society. Firmer regulations and enforcement would not only protect consumers from fake products, but would also foster a more vibrant and competitive development base in Vietnam."
According to Microsoft Vietnam, consumers and enterprises should be aware of advantages of using valid software. They say that it helps protect against viruses and other problems, as well as being provided with regular updates and support.
They added that, even though some businesses may think that they are saving money by buying phony or copied software, in the long run, this could end up costing much more.
The study indicated that reducing the global rate of software piracy by 10% over four years, would create $142 billion in new economic activity and add 500,000 new high-tech jobs, generating $32 billion in new tax revenues for governments.
