According to Hanoi Metro, the operator of the capital's urban rail network, a total of 190,352 passenger journeys were recorded between August 29 and August 31 on the Cat Linh-Ha Dong and Nhon-Cau Giay lines.

Of the total, the Cat Linh-Ha Dong route carried 128,594 passengers, while the Nhon-Cau Giay line served 61,758 passengers.

The operator said train services ran safely and reliably throughout the holiday period. Although passenger numbers increased, station operations remained smooth and uninterrupted.

During the National Day holiday, both metro lines operated from 5.30 am to 10 pm, with trains running at 10-minute intervals, providing residents and visitors with convenient access to public transport throughout the celebrations.

Observations at stations during the holiday showed higher passenger volumes, but there were no reports of significant congestion at ticketing areas or fare gates.

Authorities hope the free-fare initiative will encourage greater use of public transport, help ease pressure on the city's road network and provide tourists with a convenient way to travel around Hanoi.

The programme forms part of broader efforts to promote sustainable urban transport and increase public awareness of Hanoi's expanding metro network.
