
The centre forecasts that as of 10 pm on Monday, the storm would hit Quang Ninh coastal area at the wind speed of between 65-75 km per hour.
Due to effects of the storm, the north of the East Sea and some islands including Bach Long Vi and Co To in the Gulf of Tonkin may see waves rising up to 2-4 metres.
On Tuesday morning, Quang Ninh coastal area may also experience strong winds, causing waves to rise up to 1,5-2,5 m.
The storm will also cause heavy rains to the northern region from Monday evening to Wednesday with average rainfall of between 100-200 mm.
PM Pham Minh Chinh has just asked authorities in 25 coastal provinces from Quang Ninh To Quang Nam and some northern mountainous provinces to prepare for the storm and heavy rains to ensure safety for people and protect assets.
Storm Prapiroon is forecasted to downgrade into tropical depression by 10 pm on July 23 when it left Vietnam and reached Guangxi in China.
