Dong Nai to stage 12 fireworks displays for April 30 holiday

Authorities in Dong Nai Province will stage 12 high-altitude fireworks displays alongside cultural and sporting events to mark the Reunification Day (April 30) holiday.

The provincial People’s Committee said the main celebrations will commemorate the 51st anniversary of Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-2026) and the 136th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.

A highlight will be an arts programme and fireworks from 9 to 9.15 pm on April 30 at Tran Bien and Binh Phuoc wards, with simultaneous displays in 10 newly recognised wards, including Long Thanh, Nhon Trach and Trang Bom. All are funded through social contributions.

The province will also organise cultural performances, sports events and visits with gifts for people with meritorious service and their families.

Earlier, the National Assembly Standing Committee approved the establishment of 10 new wards in Dong Nai and agreed to submit a proposal to the National Assembly to create a centrally governed Dong Nai City. Lawmakers are expected to review the resolution on April 23.

Dong Nai covers 12,737 square metres with a population of about 4.5 million and 95 commune-level administrative units. It has met all criteria required to become a centrally governed city.
