Police in Hop Minh Commune, working with local authorities and the Yen Thanh forest protection unit, discovered the illegal trapping on September 10.
The 37-year-old man from Hop Minh Commune, had set up nets and equipment to lure and capture wild birds.
At the scene, officials seized two live birds, eight wooden poles, about 200 metres of netting and a sound system comprising a battery, an amplifier and three speakers.
The two birds were released back into the wild. Police transferred the case and seized equipment to the Yen Thanh forest protection unit for further action.
The period from August to December is the main bird migration season, when illegal trapping tends to increase in coastal areas, estuaries and fields across Nghe An.
In recent days, authorities across the province have stepped up efforts to remove nets, traps and bird-luring devices in a crackdown on the indiscriminate hunting of wild birds.
Residents have been urged not to hunt, trap, trade or transport wildlife or use equipment to illegally capture wild birds.
