Authorities in Danang City said the incident occurred at an apartment on An Thuong 3 Street in Ngu Hanh Son Ward on April 22.
At around 8.30 am, emergency services received a report that a 64-year-old American man had fallen inside a bathroom and was unable to move due to his size.
Rescue teams were dispatched to the scene with specialised equipment. Upon assessment, the man was recorded as about 1.8 metres tall and weighing nearly 300 kg.

The confined space and the victim’s body weight made conventional extraction methods impossible. Rescuers worked closely with medical staff to devise a safe plan, using specialised tools to move him without compromising his health.
By 11.10 am the same day, the man had been brought to a safe area for medical care. His condition is now reported to be stable.
An Thuong is a well known expatriate neighbourhood in Danang, popular among foreign residents and visitors.
