At a regular press briefing on April 23, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said Vietnamese agencies at home and abroad have maintained regular contact with Iranian authorities to facilitate procedures for ships and seafarers transiting the strategic waterway.
Based on guidance from Iranian authorities, the foreign ministry is working closely with the Ministry of Construction and shipping firms to provide technical details of Vietnamese cargo vessels seeking passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Vietnam’s representative missions in the Middle East and shipping companies, all Vietnamese ships and crew currently in the area remain safe.
The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry said it will continue coordinating with relevant ministries, agencies and shipowners while engaging with Iranian authorities on technical requirements to ensure safe transit as soon as possible.
Authorities are also closely monitoring developments and stand ready to implement necessary consular protection measures if needed.
Pham Thu Hang added that amid ongoing complexities in the Middle East, Vietnamese energy import and export firms are proactively working with partners to fulfil long term supply contracts.
Vietnam is also expanding cooperation with alternative partners to diversify supply sources and ensure stable fuel availability for production, business activities and domestic consumption.
