HCM City restricts downtown traffic for fire drill

HCM City will ban or restrict vehicles on several downtown streets to facilitate a fire and rescue drill at the Saigon Centre building.

City police said on August 8 that traffic restrictions would be in place from 5 am to 7 am on August 8 and 10, and from 9 am to 11 am on August 11.

Vehicles will be banned from sections of Ham Nghi, Pasteur and Le Loi streets around Saigon Centre during the drill.

Traffic will also be restricted along Le Loi Street between the Tran Hung Dao intersection near Ben Thanh Market and Pasteur Street, and on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street between Le Thanh Ton and Huynh Thuc Khang streets.

Police have advised motorists to use alternative routes through nearby streets, including Ham Nghi, Huynh Thuc Khang, Nguyen Hue, Ton Duc Thang and Le Thanh Ton.

Motorists travelling towards Ben Thanh Market or the Ham Nghi, Vo Van Kiet and Tran Hung Dao areas are also advised to follow designated diversions to avoid the restricted zone.
