According to the plan, the new bus station will has a total area of over 100,000 square metres and be capable of servicing about 270 buses running to six eastern provinces including Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.
Hanoi's Department of Transport has been trying to reduce burden on the overloaded My Dinh Station.
Beginning this year, the buses on routes departing from Hanoi to eight provinces including Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Ha Tinh, Nam Dinh, Nghe An, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, and Ninh Binh were asked to move from six different stations of My Dinh, Gia Lam, Yen Nghia, Son Tay, Troi and Phung, to Nuoc Ngam Station in Hoang Mai District to reduce congestion.
