Anh instructed Me Linh District’s Health Department and concerned agencies to quickly provide the medical equipment for the hospital to ensure capacity to treat 300 people. In necessary cases, authorities need to increase the number of the hospital’s sick beds.

According to the Hanoi chairman, Hanoi is facing a rise in Covid-19 infections, including cases related to variants from India, South Africa and the UK.

Me Linh Field Hospital was upgraded from the former General Hospital of Me Linh District. The Me Linh General Hospital project was approved by Hanoi in 2013, with the investment of VND2,700 billion (USD114.7 million). However, after seven years of construction, only two blocks were completed, with the surrounding area eventually covered in wild grass.

Last year, Me Linh Field Hospital was put into operation as the country experienced a large Covid-19 outbreak.
