Repair work has accelerated on streets in Hoang Mai, Cau Giay and Ha Dong wards. Major roads such as Giai Phong, Nghiem Xuan Yem, Nguyen Xien and Trung Hoa have all seen large-scale pavement upgrades.

On Trung Hoa Street, workers removed old paving stones and installed larger natural blue stone blocks designed for greater durability and slip resistance on November 24. The street is about 500 metres long, with pavements 2-3 metres wide.

Similar repairs are underway on Nguyen Xien, Khuat Duy Tien and Nghiem Xuan Yem streets, where many sections have been damaged after years of use.

Along Nghiem Xuan Yem Street, crews spent nearly a month dismantling old pavement layers, levelling the ground and pouring concrete before laying new stone.

At the Bac Linh Dam apartment complex, the old stone surface has been removed and the pavement levelled in preparation for concrete pouring.

Construction worker Xuan Nghia said recent dry weather has helped speed progress, allowing stone to be laid a day after the concrete surface is levelled.

On Nguyen Xien Street, construction materials have been stockpiled, with several sections largely completed and awaiting inspection.

Local authorities said pavements deteriorate quickly due to encroachment, street vending, illegal parking and vehicles driving on pavements, causing cracking, subsidence and peeling.

After days of work, pavements on several Hanoi streets have begun to take on a refreshed appearance. A section on Nghiem Xuan Yem Street is now noticeably cleaner and more open following repairs.
