Hanoi police have surveyed the city’s firefighting infrastructure.
According to the survey, Hanoi needs to install 10,200 hydrants; 1,673 water tanks and 848 water collection points and water catchment tanks across 30 districts.

Under municipal authorities’ instruction, the police have cooperated with concerned agencies to inspect the current firefighting water supply system to propose the proper investment. Densely populated areas at high risk of fire and explosion must be prioritised.
Recently, Hanoi witnessed severe fires. In May, a house on Trung Kinh Street caught fire, leaving 14 dead.
On June 16, a fire broke out at a house in Dinh Cong Ha Street, killing four people.
In September last year, an illegally built mini apartment building in Thanh Xuan District caught fire, killing 56 people.
The most recent fires in Hanoi occurred at houses in narrow alleys, which made it difficult for authorities and firefighters to access the areas.
